Trading Standards have received information about a company that is approaching the community through door to door sales, trying to sell battery powered all in one alarm systems which includes a burglar alarm and smoke detector. They claim that each detector is connected directly to the customer’s local fire and police station. This is not true.

Clearly this is misleading and members of the public who have these detectors fitted may not dial 999, as they think that their alarm is connected directly to their local fire and police station.

In the event of a fire or a burglary 999 should be dialled immediately! For a free home fire risk check, Freephone: 0800 0241 999.

The company uses persuasive language to make the consumer interested in buying this alarm. Once the customer is hooked into buying the alarm system they are signed into a 3 year contract which can amount up to £3000.

Remember to always ask for Identity if approached by a door to door sales man. And if you are not sure don’t answer your door.

If you have any information regarding this company, or similar scams please contact your local Trading Standards Department: 0845 330 2270.
