Dear Watchdog

PROJECT FUNDING

At the April Forums, Watchdogs were informed that following the Evaluation of the Scheme by Staffordshire University last year, £40,000 has been allocated to carry out projects that will make a real difference to local communities.

The funding is for financial year 2009/2010 and equates to £5000 per district.

We are currently trying to put together a plan for each district, which will show what projects each forum would like to carry out. You are therefore invited to complete the attached form outlining your ideas, and return to us via email before Wednesday 13 May 2009.

According to the Social Care and Health Directorate Plan, projects should try to:

  • Enable people to make informed choices.

  • Respond to unmet needs.

  • Ensure the most distant of voices are heard.

  • Promote and support sustainable communities and community cohesion.

  • Address behaviours detrimental to health, safety and the local economy.

Any project carried out will have to be measurable and show the positive impact it has had on the local community.

Ideas discussed at Forums include, buying and fitting door chains for vulnerable members of a community, carrying out more electric blanket testing, holding healthy cookery sessions, sloppy slippers – the choice is yours to put forward any ideas for projects that can benefit your community.

Yours sincerely

Nicola Wilson
